Soda-flavoured Pop Tarts – would you?

Kellogg’s are all set to launch two brand new flavours in their Pop Tarts range in May.

Now, we’ve been huge fans of Pop Tarts flavours over the years and my own personal favourites are Frosted Cherry and Hot Fudge Sundae. I’ve often started a day with a couple of those bad boys.

At American Soda we’re always anticipating the next flavour to come from Kellogg’s so obviously we were super excited by this announcement – I wonder if you will be?

The first of these new flavours is…wait for it…Frosted A&W Root Beer! This one – like the soda itself – is likely to be an acquired taste but I know there’s plenty of you that love a good root beer and especially A&W, so this one is going to be right up your alley!

The second new flavour in the Pop Tarts range – continuing the theme of soda Pop Tarts – is Frosted Crush Orange. Yep, you read that right. The Crush Orange soda, if you remember, is bursting so much with orange flavour that it’s really just a pleasurable ASSAULT on your taste buds. If Kellogg’s manage to get that same impact into a Pop Tart then…wow!

Here’s what Angela Gusse, director of marketing for Pop Tarts, had to say:

We’re always trying to surprise our fans with flavors they’ll love. Pop Tarts and soda pop is a fun, new flavor combination the Frosted A&W Root Beer and Frosted Crush Orange varieties are so different from our fruity and dessert-type tarts, and this is our first beverage-inspired flavor. We’re excited to welcome them to our Pop Tarts family!

Now we can’t promise we’ll get hold of these new flavours as soon as they hit the stores in the US but you can be damn sure we’ll be trying to get them as soon as we possibly can. I’m as desperate as you are to give them a go!

What other soda-inspired flavours do you think would work well in a frosted Pop Tart?
